Why Novavax Stock Is Volatile This Week

James Howells, who is infamously known for having accidentally thrown away a hard drive containing 8,000 Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>), has suffered a new setback in his quest to <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/22/08/28706518/meet-a-man-on-a-quest-to-find-about-180-million-in-bitcoin-buried-in-a-landfill">reclaim his fortune</a>.
What Happened: A high court ruling by Judge Keyser KC has dismissed James Howells&#8217; legal claim to recover the hard drive, citing no &#8220;reasonable grounds&#8221; for bringing the claim and &#8220;no realistic prospect&#8221; of winning it.
Howells, who had sued the Newport City Council in Wales over the case, said he was &#8220;very upset&#8221; after the ruling, saying &#8220;it&#8217;s the great British injustice system striking again.&#8221;
After trying for 12 years to recover the lost coins, the ruling felt like &#8220;a kick in the teeth,&#8221; Howells lamented.
The case stems from an incident in 2013 when Howells accidentally threw away a hard drive containing 8,000 BTC.

However, the council rejected his request, and the court ruled that the council&#8217;s environmental permits prohibit excavation.
James Goudie KC, representing the council, argued that once the hard drive entered the landfill, it became the council's property.

At CES in 2020, Delta previewed its &#8216;concierge&#8217; concept. Delta also previewed new partnerships with&nbsp;Uber and&nbsp;Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) YouTube, including its expectations from its&nbsp;Joby partnership.&nbsp;
Delta is striving to build customer loyalty using data and AI. The AI assistant will work to create time-saving efficiencies, including notifying customers about passport expiration, visa requirements, weather updates, and wayfinding at unfamiliar airports.
In the future, Delta Concierge will enable customers to automatically connect to Delta Sync Wi-Fi and Delta Sync seatback, the airline&#8217;s personalized in-flight entertainment experience.
Delta also outlined a multimodal future of travel in which a single customer itinerary will be connected from start to finish through deep partner integrations. The Delta-Uber partnership will allow customers to earn miles for eligible rides and deliveries.
Delta Concierge will also connect with Joby&#8217;s&nbsp;electric air taxi&nbsp;service. Delta and Joby announced their alliance in 2022 and expect to begin operating in Delta&#8217;s New York and Los Angeles hubs.
B Of A Securities&#8217; Andrew G. Didora <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/01/42824930/bofa-expects-deltato-maintain-10-eps-growth-in-2025-sees-strong-q4-result" rel="noreferrer noopener">raised estimates for</a> Delta ahead of its fourth-quarter print. Didora raised the quarterly revenue growth estimate to 4.3% (prior 3.6%), versus the 2%-4% outlook. He expects EPS of $1.78 versus the guidance of $1.60-$1.85.
Morgan Stanley&#8217;s Ravi Shankar maintained&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/general/travel/24/12/42450095/us-airlines-set-to-fly-high-in-2025-analyst-says-perfect-storm-of-tailwinds-will-propel-industry-gains" rel="noreferrer noopener">a bullish outlook</a> on the airline industry. The analyst flagged how airlines like Delta reaped the benefits of &#8220;the premiumization trend,&#8221; backed by loyalty programs, credit cards, and brand partnerships. Goldman Sachs&#8217; Catherine O&#8217;Brien <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/24/11/42119662/goldman-sachs-analyst-sees-delta-eps-soaring-to-950-by-fy26-details" rel="noreferrer noopener">also voiced similar</a> sentiments.
Delta chief Ed Bastian&nbsp;had signaled <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/global/24/11/42106369/delta-chief-says-trump-could-be-a-breath-of-fresh-air-for-aviation-industry" rel="noreferrer noopener">positive regulatory changes</a> for the industry under Donald Trump&#8217;s presidency.
Delta stock surged over 45% in the last 12 months. Delta Expands Premium Travel Experience with Uber, YouTube, and Joby Partnerships

President Jimmy Carter's solemn <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/movers-shakers/24/12/42716329/jimmy-carter-the-39th-us-president-who-championed-human-rights-and-peace-in-the-middle-east-had-died">state funeral</a> in Washington, D.C.&#8217;s National Cathedral Thursday brought together five living U.S. presidents, including President-elect Donald Trump, who was seated next to Barack Obama, with whom he seemed to be having a lively conversation. &nbsp;
Carter was <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/jimmy-carter">president from 1977 to 1981.</a>
The first eulogy was given by one of Carter's grandsons, Joshua Carter, who said his grandfather spent his life helping people and seeking peace and justice around the world. He was followed by eulogies written by former President Gerald Ford and Walter Mondale, Carter&#8217;s vice president, before their deaths and read by the sons.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">&#8220;The First Millennialist&#8221;</h1>
Jason Carter called his grandfather the first millennialist who wanted to legalize cannabis, encouraged craft beer production, protected the environment, supported women's rights and "tried to bring peace to the Holyland."
He drew laughs when he told an endearing story about how his grandfather, a nuclear engineer, first began using a cell phone and called him: &#8220;I answered and said &#8216;Hey paw paw.&#8217; He said &#8216;Who&#8217;s this.&#8217; I said this is Jason, you called me.&#8221; 
Carter replied, &#8220;I didn&#8217;t call you, I&#8217;m taking a picture.&#8221;
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">President Joe Biden</h2>
In his eulogy, President Joe Biden summed up Carter's character in three words "Character, character, character." He called Carter a white Southerner who championed civil rights and established a model post-presidency.
"He showed us how character and faith start with ourselves and then flows to others. At our best, we share the better parts of ourselves — joy, solidarity, love, commitment — not for reward, but in reverence of the incredible gift of life we've all been granted, to make every minute of our time here on Earth count," Biden said. 
&#8220;We have an obligation to give hate no safe harbor and we have to stand up to what my dad used to say was the greatest sin of all — the abuse of power." At this point the cameras turned to the section of the audience where Trump was seated.
As the presidents made their way to the exit of the Cathedral, Trump, Obama and Bush went one way and Clinton another, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/us/jimmy-carter-funeral">noted</a> the NY Times. Doug Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris's husband shook Trump&#8217;s hand, which Bush did not, <a href="https://www.newsbreak.com/raw-story-2096750/3752745200176-watch-george-w-bush-declines-to-shake-donald-trump-s-hand-at-jimmy-carter-s-funeral">noted</a> CBS anchor Norah O&#8217;Donnell.
<h1 class="wp-block-heading">Final Resting Place</h1>
Following the service, Carter was taken to the Joint Base Andrews outside of Washington, D.C., to be flown on one of Air Force One jets to Georgia where there will be a final private service Thursday afternoon at Carter&#8217;s local church. Carter will be buried next to his wife, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/top-stories/23/11/35865944/former-first-lady-and-mental-health-champion-rosalynn-carter-dies-at-96">Rosalynn Carter</a>, outside the home they built in 1961 and where they lived most of their lives.
&#8220;Yes, they spent four years in the governor's mansion and four years at the White House but the other 92 years they spent at home in Plains, Georgia, which first of all looks like they built themselves," said grandson Jason Carter.
"Second of all, my grandfather was likely to show up at the door in some &#8217;70s short shorts and crocs. Demonstrating their depression, era roots, they had a little rack next to the sink where they would hang Ziploc bags to dry."

Jimmy Carter's Funeral: 5 Living Presidents Attend; Family, Colleagues Share Warm, Humorous Stories

Chevron Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/CVX#NYSE">CVX</a>) disclosed the commencement of oil production from the Whale semi-submersible platform in the<a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/01/b42899245/chevron-bolsters-u-s-gulf-of-mexico-production-with-whale-facility-startup" rel="noreferrer noopener"> deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico</a>.
The company&#8217;s subsidiary, Chevron U.S.A. Inc., owns 40% working interest in Whale, with Shell Offshore Inc. owning 60% interest as operator.
Whale, located 200 miles southwest of Houston in Alaminos Canyon Block 773, is in over 8,600 feet of water.
The company estimates Whale&#8217;s peak production at 100,000 gross boe/d, with up to 15 wells in its first phase.
The project features energy-efficient gas turbines and compression systems, utilizing a simplified design for lower emissions, reduced costs, and higher returns.
Chevron&#8217;s latest milestone follows a year of key achievements, including first production from its high-pressure Anchor project and the launch of water injection operations to enhance output at its Jack/St. Malo and Tahiti facilities in the Gulf.
Bruce Niemeyer, president of Chevron Americas Exploration &amp; Production, stated Whale&#8217;s production brings Chevron nearer to its target of 300,000 net barrels of oil equivalent per day in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico by 2026.
Last month, Chevron and Woodside swapped energy assets, with Chevron gaining Julimar-Brunello stakes and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/contracts/24/12/42584936/chevron-secures-larger-north-west-shelf-stake-in-asset-swap-400m-payment-to-woodside" rel="noreferrer noopener">Woodside focusing on LNG assets</a>.
