Gary Black, managing partner at&nbsp;Future Fund LLC, has expressed doubts about the potential of&nbsp;Tesla Inc.&#8217;s&nbsp;(NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) proposed <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/24/10/41298220/uber-analysts-unfazed-by-teslas-cybercab-reveal-eye-stronger-av-position">autonomous &#8220;Cybercab&#8221; service</a> to outperform Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UBER#NYSE">UBER</a>).
What Happened: On Sunday, a social media user on X, formerly Twitter, argued that Tesla&#8217;s Cybercab could significantly undercut Uber&#8217;s cost per mile by eliminating the need for a driver.
&#8220;Uber has a bigger network in the beginning but no moat is big enough to defend the $1/mile diff in pricing,&#8221; the user said.
However, Black disagreed with this view, stating that Tesla&#8217;s autonomous vehicles are not yet capable of performing with near-perfect reliability.

He estimated&nbsp;that Tesla's autonomous driving systems&nbsp;are currently at 97% efficacy, implying that human intervention is still required&nbsp;for the remaining 3% of&nbsp;driving situations.
&#8220;Many $UBER bears seem to forget that $TSLA Cybercab can't drive at 99.99% efficacy (more like 97%), so can't eliminate the driver cost. Maybe by 2027,&#8221; he stated.

Benzinga Bulls And Bears: Nvidia, Rivian, Alphabet, Palantir — And Crypto Trader Says Shiba Inu 'Will Accelerate'

Scotiabank analyst Nat Schindler initiated coverage on Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) with a Sector Outperform rating (Buy) <a target="_blank" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/GOOG/analyst-ratings" rel="noreferrer noopener">and a price target of $212</a>.
The analyst says that Google is poised to benefit from AI investments, with monetizable corporate products in its Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and enhanced ad revenue opportunities through Search and YouTube.
Notably, Google is primed to lead the AI wave, leveraging its unmatched data and computing power, adds the analyst.
The analyst writes that while ChatGPT grabbed attention, Google has been advancing AI for decades. Tools like Gemini and Bard are just the latest user-friendly interfaces for its long-standing expertise.
Moreover, Schindler says that Google is the least sensitive to macroeconomic factors among the Big 3, as most of its revenue comes from Search, which correlates with global online transactions—a resilient and expanding market.
The analyst writes that antitrust actions in the U.S. have limited Google&#8217;s stock performance this year compared to its Big 3 Internet peers, but they see a positive outlook for the company ahead.

It is important for investors to look ahead and not in the rearview mirror.
Consider continuing to hold good, very long term, existing positions. Based on individual risk preference, consider a protection band consisting of cash or Treasury bills or short-term tactical trades as well as short to medium term hedges and short term hedges. This is a good way to protect yourself and participate in the upside at the same time.
You can determine your protection bands by adding cash to hedges. The high band of the protection is appropriate for those who are older or conservative. The low band of the protection is appropriate for those who are younger or aggressive. If you do not hedge, the total cash level should be more than stated above but significantly less than cash plus hedges.
A protection band of 0% would be very bullish and would indicate full investment with 0% in cash.&nbsp; A protection band of 100% would be very bearish and would indicate a need for aggressive protection with cash and hedges or aggressive short selling.
It is worth reminding that you cannot take advantage of new upcoming opportunities if you are not holding enough cash.  When adjusting hedge levels, consider adjusting partial stop quantities for stock positions (non ETF); consider using wider stops on remaining quantities and also allowing more room for high beta stocks. High beta stocks are the ones that move more than the market.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Traditional 60/40 Portfolio</h3>
Probability based risk reward adjusted for inflation does not favor long duration strategic bond allocation at this time.
Those who want to stick to traditional 60% allocation to stocks and 40% to bonds may consider focusing on only high quality bonds and bonds of five year duration or less.&nbsp; Those willing to bring sophistication to their investing may consider using bond ETFs as tactical positions and not strategic positions at this time.

Scotiabank Initiates Coverage On Alphabet with Sector Outperform Rating, Announces Price Target of $212

Ride-hailing companies Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/UBER#NYSE">UBER</a>) and Lyft, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/LYFT#NASDAQ">LYFT</a>) are rising<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/premarket"> in premarket trading </a>on Friday.
The shares of Uber and its smaller peer Lyft were reacting to electric vehicle maker Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) announcing that a rival offering from its stable, the Cybercab, will go into production in 2026 or possibly even in 2027. If Tesla had been quick with a superior offering armed with its unsupervised self-driving technology, Uber and Lyft might have seen their market share erode.
Ahead of the event, Future Fund LLC&#8217;s Gary Black had warned Tesla investors not to hope for an immediate launch of the robotaxi with supervised full self-driving technology.
He said Tesla should subsidize rides on its rideshare app. and require all drivers to drive Tesla vehicles and, if possible, be highly rated on other rideshare apps.
The penetrating pricing strategy of offering rides at lower prices than competition including Uber and Lyft would increase awareness about the app and also lure users to it, Black said, adding that Tesla should use its cash reserves for it.
For the next two years at least, Uber and Lyft can have much of their market to themselves. They only have to contend with Alphabet, Inc.&#8217;s (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOGL#NASDAQ">GOOGL</a>) (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GOOG#NASDAQ">GOOG</a>) Waymo and General Motors Corp.&#8217;s (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) Cruise in the near term.
In premarket trading, Uber rose 4.90% to $81.74, and Lyft gained 2.42% to $12.71, according to <a href="https://benzinga.grsm.io/register174">Benzinga Pro data.</a>

The 2024 U.S. Robotaxi Experience Study <a href="https://www.jdpower.com/business/press-releases/2024-us-robotaxi-experience-study">found </a>that consumers had an average level of satisfaction of 8.53 on a 10-point scale.
The study, which took place in August, is based on the five categories of comfort and convenience, initiating the ride, riding in the vehicle, service availability and cost, and vehicle technology. Of the five categories, technology scored the highest.
Consumers who rode in a robotaxi had a 76% consumer confidence score for a fully automated, self-driving vehicle. While that score is relatively high, the consumer confidence score of people for fully automated, self-driving vehicles who have not ridden in a robotaxi was only 20%.
When asked to describe their ideal robotaxi service, respondents prioritized safety, with 78% selecting it as the most important factor, followed by reliability at 71% and trustworthiness at 66%.
One of the most important consumer requests in the survey was for the robotaxi to offer an emergency button to connect to local emergency services. Other requests were for the ability to select vehicles based on safety features and having the route set beforehand.

The study occurred in the five markets of Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco.

Why It's Important: The study finds relatively high trust and satisfaction ratings for consumers who experience a robotaxi in some of the largest cities that have approved or are testing the technology.
Another takeaway from the report is that even living in a city with robotaxis and higher consumer awareness can improve trust in the technology. The study found that consumer confidence was 34% for people who had not ridden in a robotaxi and lived in one of the cities with robotaxis in operation.
"The robotaxi segment is still anyone's game, given that most people are not familiar with robotaxi brands and haven't formed a clear associative imagery," J.D. Power Senior Director of user experience benchmarking and technology Kathleen Rizk said.
Rizk added that the companies with robotaxis need to "look beyond their deployment markets and find ways to educate and build trust with all consumers."

<li>On this CPI data, the market would have been down significantly more than what is shown on the chart because the blow from the hot CPI data is being cushioned by newly released jobless claims data.&nbsp; Initial jobless claims came at 258K vs. 229K consensus.&nbsp; The sharp rise in initial claims goes against the narrative that momo gurus have been using to persuade investors to buy stocks.&nbsp; However, temporarily in the early trade, investors are taking comfort in higher jobless claims believing that it will give ammunition to the Fed to continue cutting rates even if inflation is higher.</li>

<li>The momo crowd is aggressively buying the dip in the early trade. The momo crowd is especially buying AI stocks.</li>
<li>Of note is today is Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) robotaxi day. TSLA stock has run up in anticipation of Tesla's CEO Elon Musk saying great things about robotaxis and perhaps robotics and a lower priced Tesla model. Keep a close eye on TSLA stock.  If what Musk says exceeds expectations, expect TSLA stock to rally towards $300.  On the other hand, if what Musk says is inline with or less than expectations, expect a selloff in TSLA stock.  Whatever happens to TSLA stock will bleed into other AI stocks.</li>

Based on individual risk preference, consider a protection band consisting of cash or Treasury bills or short-term tactical trades as well as short to medium term hedges and short term hedges. This is a good way to protect yourself and participate in the upside at the same time.
You can determine your protection bands by adding cash to hedges.&nbsp; The high band of the protection is appropriate for those who are older or conservative. The low band of the protection is appropriate for those who are younger or aggressive.&nbsp; If you do not hedge, the total cash level should be more than stated above but significantly less than cash plus hedges.
A protection band of 0% would be very bullish and would indicate full investment with 0% in cash.&nbsp; A protection band of 100% would be very bearish and would indicate a need for aggressive protection with cash and hedges or aggressive short selling.

Ives expects to hear "many updates" from Tesla at the event, including the timeline of robotaxis rolling out.
"We also expect some key updates around the company's projections on Cybercab scaling, overall cost per mile, a Tesla ride-share app, and a Generation 1 demo on premises of the breakthrough technology designed to revolutionize urban transportation."
Ives said AI and FSD could represent a $1 trillion value for Tesla in the coming years.
"Tomorrow it's time for Musk to have a watershed unveiling event to kick this AI era off at Tesla."
UBER, TSLA Price Action: Uber stock was up 2.2% to $77.87 on Wednesday, versus a 52-week trading range of $40.09 to $82.14. It is up 33.0% year-to-date in 2024.

Analysts React: Wedbush analyst Dan Ives highlighted some of the proposed changes in a new note to clients on Wednesday. The analyst noted that the potential remedies for search arrangements are consistent with the firm&#8217;s prior expectations.
&#8220;We continue to view structural changes as an unlikely outcome for Google as a result of this case and expect any material business model impact will relate to search distribution,&#8221; Ives said. 
Some of the proposed changes could limit or prohibit distribution agreements and impact revenue sharing agreements with key partners like Apple Inc (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/AAPL#NASDAQ">AAPL</a>), the analyst said. 
&#8220;Importantly, Google has publicly shared its intent to appeal the ruling, which would delay any business model impact for several quarters and possibly years following a final ruling on remedies,&#8221; Ives said.
Wedbush has an <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-stock-ratings">Outperform rating</a> on Alphabet with a 12-month price target of $205.

JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth echoed much of the same sentiment as Wedbush in a note released Wednesday. JPMorgan has an Overweight rating on Alphabet shares with a December 2025 price target of $208.
&#8220;Overall, we do not believe there are any major surprises, but the preliminary framework carries headline risk and suggests structural changes or separation proposals are possible,&#8221; Anmuth said.
Although the JPMorgan analyst noted that the initial outline is in line with expectations, he cautioned that the language is somewhat broad in terms of specific remedies. Still, Anmuth does not expect the framework to impact shares much in the near term as investor attention shifts to earnings later this month, followed by the final DOJ proposal in November.
The DOJ is expected to submit its final proposals by Nov. 20. Google will have until Dec. 20 to propose its own changes. A final ruling is expected in August 2025.

Based on individual risk preference, consider a protection band consisting of cash or Treasury bills or short-term tactical trades as well as short to medium term hedges and short term hedges. This is a good way to protect yourself and participate in the upside at the same time.
You can determine your protection bands by adding cash to hedges. The high band of the protection is appropriate for those who are older or conservative. The low band of the protection is appropriate for those who are younger or aggressive.  If you do not hedge, the total cash level should be more than stated above but significantly less than cash plus hedges.
A protection band of 0% would be very bullish and would indicate full investment with 0% in cash. A protection band of 100% would be very bearish and would indicate a need for aggressive protection with cash and hedges or aggressive short selling.
It is worth reminding that you cannot take advantage of new upcoming opportunities if you are not holding enough cash.  When adjusting hedge levels, consider adjusting partial stop quantities for stock positions (non ETF); consider using wider stops on remaining quantities and also allowing more room for high beta stocks. High beta stocks are the ones that move more than the market.
