What To Know: Hyperscale Data on Tuesday said its indirect wholly owned subsidiary, Ault Markets, plans to launch a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange (DEX) headquartered in Las Vegas.
The company said the platform will enable non-custodial, peer-to-peer digital asset trading with no centralized intermediary. Ault Markets expects to support trading in up to 175 countries, offering multi-chain interoperability, decentralized identity integration and Layer-2 scaling for high-speed, low-cost transactions.
The DEX is expected to go live in early 2026, following global node deployment and a smart contract audit.
&#8220;We believe it is time for the United States to take the lead in the digital asset space,&#8221; said Milton Ault III, founder and executive chairman of Hyperscale Data. 
&#8220;By launching a DEX from Nevada, we are looking to set a global standard; not just for cryptocurrency access, but for transparency and innovation across global financial systems.&#8221;

When a woman received a letter from the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/personal-finance/financial-advisors/25/06/46131760/i-thought-i-could-still-work-a-little-retiree-hit-with-surprise-9648-social-security-overpayment-notice">Social Security Administration</a> claiming she owed $4,765 due to excess earnings, she was understandably confused. After all, she thought she had followed the rules when she started collecting benefits early and continued working. But could a lesser-known rule — the "monthly earnings test" — help her reduce or even eliminate that overpayment?
Here's what to know if you're facing a similar situation.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Triggered the Overpayment?</h2>
According to the individual's <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/SocialSecurity/comments/1li3pll/ss_says_they_over_paid_mehelp/">Reddit post</a>, she began receiving Social Security retirement benefits at age 64 — before reaching full retirement age. She reached her FRA of 66 years and eight months in January.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In 2024, she earned $32,322 from working. That's more than the annual earnings limit for someone younger than FRA, which was $22,320 in 2024.
When early claimants earn above the limit, the SSA withholds $1 in benefits for every $2 earned over that threshold. Based on her income, she exceeded the limit by about $10,000, triggering a benefit reduction of around $5,000 — consistent with the amount SSA says she must repay.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Is the Monthly Earnings Test — and Can It Help?</h2>
The woman asked whether the monthly test could be applied to her situation. The monthly earnings test, also called the special rule, is designed for people in their first year of retirement who earn less than a certain amount in specific months.

In 2024, the monthly earnings limit was $1,860. If a retiree earned less than that in a month, they could be eligible to keep their full benefit for that month — even if their total annual income exceeds the yearly limit. However, this rule typically only applies during the first year a person retires.
Since the Reddit poster retired a couple of years prior, she likely wouldn't qualify for the monthly test in 2024. In that case, only the annual limit would apply.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Happens the Month You Reach Full Retirement Age?</h2>
Another source of confusion came from when the Reddit poster believed she reached her full retirement age in 2024. She initially thought it was in November, when she turned 66 years and 6 months. However, her actual FRA was January, at 66 years and 8 months, based on her birth year — something she later realized.
This matters because the SSA stops counting your earnings against your benefit starting the month you reach full retirement age. From that point forward, any income you earn no longer reduces your Social Security payments.
If the SSA had mistakenly included income from after she reached her true FRA as part of the overpayment calculation, that would be an error that she could appeal. However, as she learned, she didn't reach her FRA until this year.&nbsp;

Social Security Says She Owes $4,765 — But Could The Monthly Rule Save Her From Paying Back Money She Didn't Earn?

Shares of Ford Motor Company (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/F#NYSE">F</a>) and General Motors (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/GM#NYSE">GM</a>) are trading higher Tuesday after the companies reported strong <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46187171/ford-ceo-jim-farley-praises-chinese-evs-amid-affordable-ev-platform-plans-its-the-most-humbling-thing">second-quarter sales</a>.
What To Know: Ford reported a 14.2% increase in second-quarter vehicle sales, significantly outpacing industry estimates and expanding its U.S. market share.
Ford highlighted broad-based strength across its truck, hybrid and SUV categories. The company's F-Series posted its best second quarter since 2019 with over 222,000 units sold, while electrified vehicle sales hit a record 82,886 units in the quarter. Ford also noted a 26% jump in Maverick sales and a 44.7% increase in its Bronco lineup. In total, Ford's second-quarter sales reached 612,095 units, up 14.2% year-over-year. 
"We blew the doors off the overall industry with our second-quarter sales," said Andrew Frick, president, Ford Blue and Model e, and interim head of Ford Pro.
GM, meanwhile, posted a 7% increase in U.S. sales for the second quarter and a 12% rise for the first half of 2025. Chevrolet and Buick drove much of the growth, with record crossover sales and continued dominance in full-size pickups and SUVs. GM also saw its EV sales double in the second quarter, making Chevrolet the best-selling EV brand and Cadillac the top luxury EV brand by market share during the quarter.
"The investments we have made in our crossovers, SUVs, and pickups – both gas and electric – along with great execution by our employees, suppliers and dealers, have made GM the engine of growth for the U.S. industry this year," said Duncan Aldred, GM senior VP and president of North America.
As both companies lean into a mix of combustion, hybrid and electric offerings, the results underscore the continued strength of U.S. consumer demand for pickups and SUVs. Investors responded positively to the strong execution and upward market share trends, sending both stocks higher on the day.

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TSLA#NASDAQ">TSLA</a>) shares are trading lower Tuesday amid <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/07/46187403/elon-musk-is-unhappy-with-trumps-big-beautiful-bill-and-just-reminded-everyone-that-80-voted-for-a-new-party">disagreements</a> between CEO Elon Musk and President Donald Trump. Additionally, Tesla registrations in Sweden and Denmark <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/tech/25/07/46189042/elon-musk-led-teslas-european-woes-worsen-with-sales-down-over-60-in-sweden-and-denmark">fell during June.</a>
What To Know: The drop in Tesla shares follows Musk's vocal opposition to Trump's proposed federal spending bill, which Musk called a "disgusting abomination" on social media. Musk warned that if the bill passes, he would form a new political faction, the "America Party." In response, Trump criticized Musk's reliance on federal subsidies, implying Tesla&#8217;s survival is tightly linked to government support.

According to Schmidt Automotive Research, Tesla has now posted six straight quarters of declining registration volumes in the region, with a potential seventh quarter underway.
Tesla is expected to report second-quarter delivery figures later this week, which could further test investor confidence amid growing uncertainty around Musk's leadership, product competitiveness and geopolitical positioning.

The Innovator Equity Dual Directional Buffer ETFs – July Series, launched on Tuesday, are the first ETFs of their kind that aim to potentially provide gains in both rising and declining markets over a one-year outcome period.
The Innovator Equity Dual Directional 10 Buffer ETF – July (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DDTL#BATS">DDTL</a>) and the Innovator Equity Dual Directional 15 Buffer ETF– July (BATS:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DDFL#BATS">DDFL</a>) track the performance of the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/SPY#NYSE">SPY</a>) and utilize options to construct a specified outcome strategy.

The Dual Directional Buffer ETFs bring together multiple compelling features:
Return potential both ways: Investors can capture gains whether the market rises or experiences moderate declines.
Predefined outcomes: Each ETF comes with an open upside cap, an inverse return cap, and a downside buffer, all of which are established before investment.

Can You Profit When Markets Sink? Innovator's New ETFs Say Yes

HSBC has raised its <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/gold">average gold price</a> forecast for 2025 to $3,215 an ounce, up from $3,015, citing "elevated geopolitical risks, economic uncertainty, and rising government debt." The bank also increased its 2026 estimate to $3,125 an ounce from $2,915, while projecting a turbulent path ahead.
"We anticipate a wide and volatile trading range of $3,600/oz to $3,100/oz for the rest of the year," HSBC said in a note, as reported <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/hsbc-raises-average-gold-price-forecasts-2025-2026-2025-07-01/">by</a> Reuters.
Spot gold traded around $3,350 at 9:30 AM EST on Tuesday. The metal reached a record high of $3,500 in April, driven by surging demand from investors, <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/economics/macro-economic-events/25/02/43512109/gold-extends-records-as-central-banks-rush-to-buy-bullion-miners-eye-sixth-straight-winning-week">central banks</a>, and geopolitical hedgers.
However, while prices remain historically high, HSBC warned that additional gains above $3,500/oz may reduce physical demand, particularly for jewelry, coins, and small bars in markets such as India and China. Consumers are highly price-sensitive, and even modest spikes tend to dampen gold buying.
The shift in demand and a search for substitution have been evident in a recent surge in platinum's popularity. With gold jewelry becoming increasingly expensive, platinum has reached <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/commodities/25/06/46138446/investors-seek-gold-alternative-platinum-hits-1400-as-supply-deficit-deepens">an 11-year high,</a> driven by rising consumer demand.
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Safe-Haven Appeal</h3>
Ricardo Evangelista, senior analyst at ActivTrades, said gold's current trajectory remains supported by macro forces.
"The precious metal's safe-haven appeal is being boosted by concerns over the US fiscal outlook and ongoing tariff-related uncertainty," he <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/india/gold-rises-weaker-dollar-tariff-uncertainty-before-deadline-2025-07-01/">told Reuters</a>, referring to President Donald Trump's pending <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/politics/25/06/46156587/trump-says-july-tariff-deadline-not-set-in-stone-we-can-do-whatever-we-want">July 9 tariff deadline</a>. "I expect prices to move higher in the near term&#8230; with the next significant resistance level around $3,370."
Global central bank demand, which surged over the last three years, remains a key pillar, although HSBC noted that buying may slow at prices above $3,300/oz. However, if gold retreats closer to $3,000, central banks could re-enter the market more aggressively, thereby reinforcing gold&#8217;s appeal as a reserve asset in uncertain times.
The combination of sticky inflation, a softening U.S. dollar, and deepening geopolitical divisions, especially in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, has also strengthened gold's position as a portfolio diversifier. HSBC clarifies that even if the rally pauses, gold's role as a long-term hedge remains intact.
In Canada, the gold rally has already had tangible market effects. The S&amp;P/TSX Composite Index surged 15% in U.S. dollar terms in the first half of the year, outpacing the S&amp;P 500, largely due to outsized gains in gold and silver miners.
"No doubt that it's been driven by gold. You need to have things that can bulletproof your portfolio, and gold is the one that does that the best,"&nbsp; Sadiq Adatia, chief investment officer at BMO Asset Management, said <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-07-01/gold-helps-canada-s-stocks-benchmark-outshine-the-s-p-500">per</a> Bloomberg.
Still, Adatia warns that the second half of 2025 may not replicate the stellar gains of the first.
"I don't think gold is going to have the same run&#8230; a lot of the ambiguity and uncertainty has subsided," he noted.

HSBC Lifts Gold Forecast, Sees A Volatile Path Ahead

Intralot S.A. to Remain Listed on the Athens Stock Exchange
Transaction Enterprise Value of €2.7 Billion
Intralot S.A. (ATSE: INLOT) ("Intralot") and Bally's Corporation (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/BALY#NYSE">BALY</a>) ("Bally's") today announced that their respective Boards of Directors approved their entry into a definitive transaction agreement ("Transaction Agreement") pursuant to which Intralot will acquire Bally's International Interactive business (the "International Interactive Business") in a cash-and-shares transaction that values the International Interactive Business at an enterprise value of €2.7 billion (the "Transaction"). The consideration for the acquisition of the International Interactive Business will comprise a combination of cash paid by Intralot and newly issued shares delivered by Intralot to Bally's, as more specifically detailed below. As part of the Transaction, Intralot expects to refinance part of its existing debt facilities and Bally's also expects to repay secured debt from the cash proceeds.
The Transaction consideration to Bally's, after assumptions of certain liabilities by the involved parties, will (subject to certain agreed adjustments) be made up of:

<li>€1.530bn cash consideration, and</li>
<li>€1.136bn of newly issued shares in new Intralot (873,707,073 shares, at an implied value of €1.30 per share).</li>
</ul>
In order to support the €1.530bn cash consideration to Bally's and refinance part of its existing debt, Intralot has obtained commitments from Citizens Bank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, and Jefferies for debt financing up to €1.6bn (which is expected to be refinanced through the debt capital markets and is subject to certain conditions precedent) and expects to launch an up to €400mn share capital increase by way of an equity offering of shares listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, subject to corporate and regulatory approvals.
Following the completion of the Transaction, Intralot is expected to remain listed on the Athens Stock Exchange. Bally's, currently Intralot's largest shareholder, is expected to become the majority shareholder of Intralot as a result of the Transaction with a significant equity stake in Intralot. Intralot's founder, Mr. Sokratis Kokkalis, will maintain a significant stake in Intralot.
Following the completion of the Transaction, Intralot is expected to be a leading digital gaming operator and technology provider for lottery products with a footprint in some of the most attractive markets in Europe and North America. The combined technology capabilities of the two companies will allow Intralot to pursue new opportunities in gaming and lottery markets globally.
Intralot, following the completion of the Transaction, is expected to be among the largest companies by market capitalization listed on the Athens Stock Exchange.
The completion of the Transaction is expected to occur in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to certain Intralot shareholder approvals, customary antitrust and gaming regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
In connection with the Transaction, Bally's has secured commitments for a $500mn secured debt facility which, together with the cash proceeds from the Transaction, will be used to repay secured debt. In addition, Bally's has secured commitments for a $100mn delayed draw secured debt facility, which may be used following the consummation of the Transaction for general corporate purposes, including the development of Bally's Chicago.
Intralot has also today received notice that Bally's and its affiliates' ownership in Intralot has increased from 26.86% to 33.34%, following which a mandatory tender offer obligation for the remaining outstanding shares of Intralot has been triggered.

He sees a potential move to $104,000 as an optimal long entry, though a breakout rally could also launch from current levels.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Dogecoin Dip But 'Early July Dip Buys Will Age Well,' Trader Says

Gold has quietly pulled off a rare feat in 2025, beating Bitcoin&#8216;s (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) returns in the first half of the year by <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/topic/gold">a double-digit margin. </a>
As of July 1, gold is up 26% year-to-date, marking its best half-year performance since 2007. Bitcoin has gained 13% over the same period.
Since Bitcoin's inception in 2009, gold has only outperformed it in three calendar years: 2014, 2018 and 2022. 
While each of those years saw triple-digit relative outperformance—125%, 285% and 178%—those gains came from steep Bitcoin selloffs, not explosive gold rallies.
With a 13% edge halfway through the year, could 2025 become the fourth year where gold decisively beats the world's top digital asset? 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bitcoin Matures Amid Slower ETF Inflows</h2>
Bitcoin is emerging from a highly volatile and high-risk asset and showing signs of maturity in 2025.
During the tariff-driven selloff in early April, Bitcoin dropped by just 10%, holding up better than major equity benchmarks, such as the Nasdaq 100 and S&amp;P 500. 
"Bitcoin is shedding its punk status and moving into the mainstream," said Sumit Roy, senior analyst at ETF.com, in a recent note. He attributes this shift to declining price volatility and institutional adoption, especially through spot exchange-traded funds.
But with reduced volatility comes fewer explosive rallies.
Total inflows into iShares Bitcoin Trust (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/IBIT#NASDAQ">IBIT</a>) – the world&#8217;s largest Bitcoin ETF in the first half of 2025 – were $15 billion. 
That's strong, but down from the $17.7 billion recorded in the same period last year. 
The Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (CBOE: FBTC) – the second biggest Bitcoin ETF – drew just $285 million in new money versus $9.2 billion in the first half of 2024.
This is notable because recent political and regulatory developments have been overwhelmingly crypto-friendly.
<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gold Takes The Lead As Dollar Crumbles</h2>
Investors appear to be taking a broader view, positioning gold as the clear winner in a weakening dollar environment.
The U.S. dollar just logged its worst half-year performance since 1991, with its trade-weighted value dropping more than 10% year to date.
Ed Yardeni, president of Yardeni Research, said President Donald Trump's ongoing attacks on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell are rattling currency markets and accelerating the dollar's decline. 
"There is method to President Donald Trump's madness regarding Powell," Yardeni said. "He's found a way to effectively hammer the foreign-exchange value of the dollar—by hammering Powell."
Trump, who has long favored a weaker dollar to boost exports, is reportedly pressuring Powell to resign so he can install a more dovish successor. 
Potential replacements include Fed Governor Christopher Waller and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, both known for advocating quicker rate cuts.
As real yields fall and the dollar erodes, gold has now soared to $3,360 per ounce. Yardeni sees more upside ahead, targeting $4,000 by year-end—a gain of nearly 20% from current levels.

If you have not read our blog last month on Benzinga, <a href="https://www.lcmcapital.com/blog/post/30">The Hottest Party on Wall Street is One You Might Not Want an Invite To</a>, you should.
We mentioned in it that Private Credit/Private Market investments are heading for your 401k plan. Well, our greatest fear has now become reality according to a Bloomberg News article published in AdvisorHub on June 26th titled, <a href="https://www.advisorhub.com/blackrock-puts-private-equity-and-credit-into-401k-funds/">BlackRock Puts Private Equity and Credit into 401(k) Funds</a>. The article states that BlackRock's CEO, Larry Fink, a very rich man, vowed earlier this year to unlock private markets for retail investors after his firm plunked down $30 billion on three acquisitions to expand heavily into private-markets data, infrastructure and private credit. Apparently, he is trying to find a way to recoup his $30 billion and fast. I would ask him if I'm right but I'm not sure his private plane has my firm's number in their rolodex.
According to the article, BlackRock plans to create new Target Date funds which will include private credit and private equity along with publicly traded stocks and bonds and possibly other types of assets, after all it's what the people want right? &nbsp;BlackRock believes this could potentially increase (investors) returns by .5% annually and 15% more over 40 years. I noticed they left out what this means to BlackRock's returns – probably not that important. Also, over 40 years, 15% translates into .375% a year not .5% what happens to the additional .125%, maybe it's for refueling the jet? Not to mention the added risk for what appears to be very little additional benefit.
According to Morningstar, fees for semi-liquid funds can be up to three times higher than traditional stock and bond funds. The average annual expense ratio was 3.16% compared to active mutual and exchange-traded funds of 0.97% <a href="https://www.advisorhub.com/private-funds-for-retail-investors-jump-to-350-billion-morningstar-says/">according to Morningstar</a>. You don't think this is possibly a reason why BlackRock, Empower, Apollo Global, Neuberger Berman, Franklin Resources, Goldman, JP Morgan and many others are wanting to bring Private Credit to the masses, especially via your 401(k) do you? Maybe this is why Larry Fink in his annual letter to investors said "unlocking private markets" is key. What he left out was "to BlackRock."
Sen. Elizabeth Warren and I rarely see eye to eye on things but in this particular case, her concern with funds expanding into private credit is warranted. She dubbed them a "Wall Street time bomb" and stated, "during a crisis or even momentary panic in the broader markets, private credit is more likely to experience liquidity freezes, inability to perform price discovery on their underlying assets, and lines of credit being terminated as traditional banks flock to safety." Sure sounds like the type of investment you'd want to have in your company's 401(k) retirement plan.
