What To Know: Wednesday on CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Squawk Box,&#8221; Tenev discussed the one thing at the top of every investor&#8217;s mind right now: tariffs.
&#8220;It probably wouldn&#8217;t surprise you to hear that, generally speaking, I&#8217;m a fan of free trade,&#8221; Tenev said in a nod to Robinhood&#8217;s commission-free investing model.

Tenev told CNBC that the one good thing about tariffs is that they can be modified or removed just as quickly as they were introduced. What&#8217;s &#8220;tricky&#8221; is when tariffs are not bilateral, he said. 
&#8220;If there [are] restrictions other countries impose on us and we&#8217;re not doing something about that then we can get into a tricky situation. I think the equilibrium — where we end up — is hopefully going to be something close to bilateral free trade,&#8221; Tenev said.

The Robinhood CEO didn&#8217;t want to make a prediction about how negotiations will play out, but he did note that he expects the trade disagreements to be resolved &#8220;before too long.&#8221;
In the meantime, Robinhood customers are approaching the drawdown in markets in various ways. Some investors are depositing cash and buying the weakness, while others are using more sophisticated instruments to play the volatility or even bet on further downside, he said. 
&#8220;The longer the tariffs go on, the more companies will have to adjust. And I think part of the hope is that over the very, very long run, this leads to increased U.S. manufacturing domestically &#8230; and I think to some extent, we all want that. Short term, I think there&#8217;s uncertainty here and we&#8217;re all watching,&#8221; Tenev said.

Treasure Global Shares Resume Trade

Wall Street saw a tentative tech rebound early Wednesday, as investors begin to shrug off escalating U.S.-China trade tensions following <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets">a steep market selloff.</a>
After the Trump administration announced a dramatic hike in tariffs on Chinese goods to 104% starting Wednesday, Beijing retaliated with an 84% tariff on American products. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defended the aggressive trade stance, claiming the impact would ultimately backfire on China.
President Donald Trump took to Truth Social, writing, &#8220;BE COOL! Everything is going to work out well. The USA will be bigger and better than ever before!&#8221; 
He encouraged investors by stating, &#8220;this is a great time to buy, DJT,&#8221; likely referring to Trump Media &amp; Technology Group Corp. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/DJT#NASDAQ">DJT</a>), rather than the Dow Jones Transportation Index, which has dropped 18% since the tariff news broke.
Yet, broader risk sentiment remains subdued, with investors awaiting either a softer tone from the White House or a signal from the Federal Reserve—though both hopes appear to be fading.
By mid-morning in New York, tech stocks staged a rebound, lifting the Nasdaq 100 by 0.9%. Yet, the S&amp;P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average remained flat, while the Russell 2000 continued to underperform.
Meanwhile, U.S. Treasuries were failing to provide their traditional safe-haven support amid heightened uncertainty and volatility.
The 10-year Treasury yield surged 10 basis points to 4.40%, triggering a sharp selloff in medium- and long-dated bonds. The popular iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/TLT#NASDAQ">TLT</a>) dropped 1.8%, extending its three-day slide to 6.6%—its worst performance since March 2020.
Gold prices, on the other hand, soared over 3% to $3,075 per ounce, on track for their strongest daily gain since October 2023.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) also advanced, rising 1.4% to $77,289.

BILLINGSHURST, WEST SUSSEX, UNITED KINGDOM, April 09, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energys Group Limited (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/ENGS#NASDAQ">ENGS</a>) ("Energys Group" or the "Company"), a vertically integrated energy efficiency and decarbonization solutions provider for the built environment, today announced that it has entered into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to acquire a 49% equity interest in Energys Spectrum Limited (the "Target Company"), a Hong Kong-based energy-saving technologies and services provider.
The Target Company specializes in providing end-to-end retrofitting solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption, carbon emissions, and operating costs for both public and private sector clients. As the exclusive licensee of Energys Group in Hong Kong and Macau, the Target Company actively promotes the Energys brand by procuring products and solutions from the Company's wholly-owned operating subsidiary and recommending them to its clients.
The MOU is non-binding and remains subject to the negotiation and execution of a definitive agreement and customary closing conditions. The consideration for the shares to be purchased by the Company will be determined with reference to the valuation of the shares as determined by a professional valuator to be engaged by the Company, and is subject to negotiation between the parties. Among other conditions, the acquisition of the shares is contingent on (i) the Company and the Target Company having agreed on the purchase price for the shares; and (ii) the Company being satisfied with the results of its due diligence review of the Target Company's financial position and business condition.
The Company has paid a refundable deposit of US$5.5 million, which will be applied towards the purchase price of the shares, unless it is forfeited due to the Company not having fulfilled its obligations under the MOU. The MOU provides that the acquisition is to be consummated no later than December 31, 2025.

Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/STZ#NYSE">STZ</a>) will release earnings results for the fourth quarter, after the <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/STZ/earnings">closing bell on Wednesday, April 9.</a>

Crude Oil Down 4%; Neogen Shares Plunge After Q3 Results

Shares of electric vehicle maker Mullen Automotive Inc. (NASDAQ:<a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/stock/MULN#NASDAQ">MULN</a>) are <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/movers">plummeting today </a>after the company said it will implement a 1-for-100 reverse stock split of its common shares, effective April 11, 2025, just after midnight Eastern Time.
The company aims to<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/g44710140/mullen-automotive-inc-announces-reverse-stock-split-effective-april-11-2025"> lift its share price to meet Nasdaq's minimum </a>bid requirement and avoid potential delisting.
Mullen stated that its shares will remain listed under the symbol MULN. They&#8217;ll begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when markets open on April 11.

The reverse stock split received shareholder approval during the company's annual meeting on March 13. The board was granted the authority to implement a split within a range of 1-for-2 to 1-for-100.
While the move increases the stock&#8217;s per-share price, it does not guarantee continued listing on the exchange.
Following the reverse stock split, each block of 100 existing shares will be combined into a single share. This move will shrink the total number of outstanding common shares from approximately 220 million to nearly 2.2 million. 
The company will not issue partial shares; instead, any fractional holdings will be rounded up to the next full share.
All outstanding equity-based instruments such as awards, warrants, and convertible notes will be proportionally revised to align with the updated share count. 
However, the total shares reserved under the company's 2022 Equity Incentive Plan will not be modified. The par value and the overall number of authorized shares for both common and preferred stock will also remain the same.
Also, Mullen has <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/pressreleases/25/04/g44710606/mullen-and-enpower-greentech-inc-enter-partnership-and-supply-agreement-to-build-egis-swift-series">entered a partnership with Enpower Greentech Inc</a>. today, to produce and supply SWIFT series solid-state batteries (SSBs). These advanced lithium-ion batteries will power commercial vehicles and serve a range of industrial uses, including aerospace, marine, medical devices, and drones.
The EV maker had <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44645277/why-is-ev-maker-mullen-automotive-stock-skyrocketing-today">assured last week that its electric vehicles</a>, including those from subsidiary Bollinger Motors, are fully manufactured in the U.S. and unaffected by new tariffs on imported EVs and parts.
